In the News

The girls U-14 team played in the Branden River Soccer – Halloween Havoc tournament on Oct. 25 and 26, 2008. The ladies dominated the tournament with ball control and rock-solid pressure at all positions while registering shut-outs all the way to the final match. They scored a total of 15 goals while allowing zero goals against them. This was a great tournament as they prepare for the regular season, upcoming tournaments and State Cup.

"Orange Crush" is what we should call the Miami Lakes U12 Boys as they went on a rampage at the Goal To Goal Cup in Boca, winning the championship in their division. Miami Lakes won all games, going undefeated and scoring a high of 23 goals and giving up only 8. These boys are well at pace to having a great season in the SFU League. Keep up the hard work, boys!

Thanks,
Coach Willy and Coach Brian.

On Oct 18-19, the MLSC U9.2 Boys team, led by Coach Billy Rivera, went to Boca Raton, FL and came away Goal to Goal Youth Cup American Division Tournament Champions. They played with unbelievable determination, lots of heart and hard work. MLSC U9.2 managed to go undefeated in 2 days. Tournament play began Saturday morning with the boys defeating Parkland Predators 5-2. They played their second match later that afternoon and in a close match defeated Weston Fury U9 Arsenal by a score of 5-4.

The next day, MLSC U9.2 continued to show superior passion and skill while completing group play with a 4-2 victory over Boca United Gold. The boys returned to the field Sunday afternoon and sealed the championship of the American Division with a win over Weston Fury U9 InterMilan by a margin of 5-1. The defense was very solid all around throughout the weekend only allowing 9 goals. They were led by Snaider Lopez and Alex Palacios and Jeffrey Moreira at goalie. Forwards Matias Rodriguez and Pipe Caceres and Midfielder Jaime De La Cruz led the scoring, along with great contributions as well from Felipe Sinelli, Matthew Rocco, Jordan Rivera, and Andrew Mercado.

"This is a huge step not only for us as a team, but overall US as a Club as well," said Coach Billy Rivera. "These players are the seeds for this Club and we hope to continue to build the foundation."

With great teamwork, our U14.1 Boys Team gave an impressive performance playing up a division in the U15 Boys Division at the Goal To Goal tournament held on October 18 - 19, 2008 at FAU.

Our first game on Saturday the 18th, against the Jupiter Stings U15 team produced a win of 4-0 with two goals from Jonathon Jhele and two from Thomas Morgan. Nice work from Bernardo Bergues our goalkeeper not giving up any goals.

Our second game in the afternoon vs a strong U15 Palm Beach Hornets team proved to be tough as we started the game two goals down. However, with determination we amazingly recovered ending the game with a 2-2 tie.

On Sunday the 19th we played the Miramar Strikers U15 team and won 3-2 qualifying us for the final. With 2 wins and 1 tie we produced 7 total points matching our opponent's (Palm Beach Hornets) total points.

The final was an awesome game ending in a loss of 0-1 even though we played most of the game with one man down.

We are very proud of our players in their first tournament of the season. Although the score was 0-1, we were awarded the Champions title.

The MLSC U14.1 Boys Travel Team is ranked 12th in the State of Florida. Check out their stats and accomplishments on their Team Page.
